Lost Charge Remote Access
Reasons for Remote Access
We need read-only access to the billing and collection system so we can research the account, specifically, prior actions taken, and also to track the payments received as a result of our effort. (We will not invoice a payment unless it has been posted in your system). We need limited write access, so we can tag the accounts and notate the system when the account is rebilled from our system.
Preferred Remote Access Scenario
We prefer to use a site-to-site VPN connection between our firewall to the remote hospital’s firewall or VPN concentrator. This makes for an easier connection and can be as secure as is required. We can limit machines that have access to the remote system either at our end or on the remote, and we can provide IP addresses of machines for this purpose. Another preferred method is to use a web based connection that goes directly over the Internet. This could be via a secure Citrix application or remote desktop. We also have the capability to use any other means of connecting in the case that the two preferred methods are not available to the client.
Process for Establishing Remote Access
Typically, we initiate the remote connection establishment by exchanging IS contact information during the startup meeting. Our IS contact would contact the designated person at the hospital to schedule a definite time to discuss the requirements and method of connecting. We would then send the required information for each user who will be accessing the remote so that user ID’s and passwords can be generated by the hospital. We would also establish how we would be connecting into the remote system and set that up as well.
